For individual clients, the charge for a regular 45-minute session is $90. The first appointment will be 75 minutes, and the charge is $150. For couples counseling or business partnership counseling, the charges are $120 for a regular 45-minute session and $200 for the initial 75-minute session.

Unfortunately, I no longer accept insurance due to the extensive paperwork involved. If you want to use insurance, you may be able to get some out-of-network reimbursement (see below).

I realize that paying out-of-pocket can be a significant expense, but I hope you'll see this as an investment in your (or your child's) future. If you choose a less expensive option but don't get any results, don't assume that counseling "doesn't work." It simply means you didn't find the right counselor. I have had clients drive from Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Beaufort to see me because they decided that I was the best fit for them.

If your finances are limited but you feel that I'd be the right therapist for you, give me a call. You may be eligible for sliding scale fees or we may be able to schedule shorter sessions. To be eligible for reduced fees, you will need to provide proof of income. Please note that I am not able to offer a sliding scale for couples counseling.

If you have “out of network” benefits with your health insurance, you may be able to get reimbursement for some of the cost of your sessions. If you decide to use insurance, I will have to make a formal mental health diagnosis which will become a permanent part of your health care record. I will make every effort to release only the minimum information about your treatment that is necessary.

If you are unsure about whether your policy covers out-of-network benefits (some do not), contact your company directly. Most plans will have a separate phone number on the back of the card for mental health/substance abuse benefits. Ask your representative all of the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health counseling? (If not, under certain circumstances, the cost of therapy may be deducted as a medical expense on your taxes.)

  • If so, how many sessions am I allowed per year?

  • What is the deductible for out-of-network outpatient mental health sessions?

  • What percentage of the session cost will be reimbursed?
